Insights, Musings, and Thoughts

For several years I have been posting, with the Lord’s help, devotions.  Devotions focus on God’s word and how we are to apply those truths.  The devotions stem from those moments when God opens my spiritual eyes to bring better understanding and wisdom.  When sharing those devotions, I try not to include my personal feelings or ideas because God’s word is without prejudice.
For some time I have thought that a blog would enable us to share on a wider basis while continuing to focus on God’s word.  Some experiences are personal and not applicable for a devotion.  A blog would allow us to share our views on all topics because God is involved of all aspects of our lives, so that will become the focus of this first blog.
Growing up, I heard that we could discuss any topic except religion and politics.  As with any saying, there is some truth to that as these two areas seem to divide us instead of unite us.  Where the discussion of religion might separate us, the discussion of Jesus and His word should not.  We may differ on styles of worship, dress, meeting times, etc., those differences should not cause the church to divide itself.  The disciples obviously had differences of opinions, especially about who was the greatest, but Jesus kept them unified by keeping their focus on Him and on His purposes.  Therefore, these blogs will attempt to keep our eyes on Jesus and on His Word.  He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  We will not interpret what is the Way because Jesus has shown us the way; we will not seek to interpret the Truth through modern eyes because Jesus is the Truth, and because Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, His truth is the same yesterday, today, and forever; and we focus on life as given to us by Jesus.
As to politics, the Truth should apply to all equally.  If we do not “allow” Jesus into our political discussions and dealings, then we are giving free reign to the enemy.  God cares about the number of hairs on our heads, and He knows when a sparrow falls to the ground.  Therefore, He must care about our cities, states, and nations.  Again, this blog will focus on looking at issues through the eyes of our King and Savior.  We hope to feature different writers so as to get a better understanding of how and why God speaks to us.
We pray that any comments will not be confrontational but insightful.  The Bible tells us that we will have to give an account of every idle word we speak (or write).  May none of those words be found on this site.
